To all perspective 2010 full race members: Sydney Thundercats are getting back to basics for the 2010 race season, there will be paid staff for the positions of RD, Scorekeeping and Gear Maintenance inc towing to and from event location to maintain professionalism and consistency in each event. Each event will follow the same basic structure and be posted two weeks prior to race day on the home page. We will no longer be driving boats on to any beach inc Boat Harbour for a Surf X event. Scrutineering and Race Poles along with your assigned beach set-up task will be completed at the boat ramp shortly followed by a gear/fuel shuttle trailer which will shuttle to and from the event location. All teams will then leave via water from the assigned boat ramp together with their boats set up and ready for the first race and to help with the beach set up “many hands make light work”. This structure dates back to the early days of Thundercat Racing and helps with the operation and enjoyment of each event BY ALL. Full STC membership fees and forms for the 2010 season will be due by February 12th 2010.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New Marine Safety Regulations YOU MUST HAVE at all times!!! (ONLY exempt when Racing under permit) In accordance with the Marine Safety (General) Regulation 2009 (which came into force on 30 March 2009), Enclosed waters Anchor that can demonstrate to grab the bottom and hold, Appropriate lifejacket, Bailer/bucket (a canvas thing should be ok), with a lanyard, Paddles (get the small plastic ones that fold or un-screw to nothing), Whistle, Waterproof torch Open waters (Boat Harbour, etc) add the following Map, Compass, 2 x orange smoke flares, 2 x red flares, 2 litres drinking water per person, V-Sheet. If more than 2 nautical miles from shore add the following, EPIRB, Marine Radio.
